Five-Star Luxuries at Home
The 628,000sf, 46-story The Residences at the Ritz- Carlton in Philadelphia combines legendary Ritz- Carlton amenities with carefree Center City living. It stands 518ft tall—the tallest residential building in the city, looking directly at William Penn atop City Hall—and features 289 homes. Amenities include a private health and fitness center with a 60ft lap pool; a boardroom with audio/visual capabilities; a private club with a lounge, library and outdoor terrace; and storage facilities. At street level the new Girard Park adds open public spaces and a private garden.
Bringing the Structure
Out of the Ground
The modern building consists of six acres of floor-to-ceiling glass curtainwall with a dramatic crystal spire on its eastern profile. The lower structure is a traditional steel frame intertwined with 49 transfer girders, with reinforced concrete beam and slab construction through the third floor. An automatic-climbing forming system for the concrete placement was used. Our team enclosed the entire working deck with a protection barrier, which provided both safety and weather protection. Formwork was raised in a four-day turnaround per floor once crews passed the 13th floor.
