When a leading global provider of communications technology needed to expand a data center, they chose Structure Tone. First increasing size, then increasing power, Structure Tone provided design/build services for the addition of 20,000sf of white space inside an operational data center, keeping the facility online with zero interruptions.
With a corporate team located in India, a local project management team in Virginia and a project in New York, our staff diligently worked with each of the client’s stakeholders to ensure that their individual needs were met while fulfilling the ultimate project goal. Early morning and late evening meetings were scheduled to review the initial design, verify scopes-of-work and secure final approvals from the India based team. Through weekly project meetings the team was kept apprised of construction progress. Forthright information was provided so the team could collectively make quick, informed decisions, allowing the project to continue on pace and ultimately be completed on-time.
Planning and Preconstruction
For both phases of the project extensive preconstruction services and planning were completed to expedite the schedule. The team conducted an extensive evaluation of the existing infrastructure and connections to determine the ability to support current and future plans of the client. Simultaneously, our team developed the MEP designs, provided value engineering recommendations and developed the most cost effective design.
Planning and tight coordination kept the project on schedule. Our team worked with building management to get plans approved and expedited the permits with the local building department.
