State-of-the-Art Performing Arts Center

While school was in session, Structure Tone built the 40,000sf Klein Campus Center at The Dwight-Englewood School. The project entailed the construction of:

  • a new 250-seat performing arts center with perfect acoustics, practice areas and music practice rooms
  • 10 large general classrooms with state-of-the-art technology
  • walkways with seating connecting the new and existing construction
  • dining areas and meeting spaces
  • on-site parking

With students always on campus, safety was a key project concern. Our team safely monitored student flow, provided way-finding and site signage to direct students and faculty through the temporary walkways and isolated the construction site with fencing to create a safer environment.

Unforeseen Site Conditions

On this site the project team discovered extensive rock while excavating, more than originally anticipated, for the new addition building footings. We used a special excavator fitted with a hydraulic hammer to break down and remove all the rock during the day and after hours in order to maintain the construction flow and schedule. Other major construction tasks included excavating for footings and pouring foundation to support the steel structure. All new site drainage was installed and tied into the municipality system in order to accommodate the new campus center structure.
