Core and Shell
Since its’ founding over 250 years ago, Hamleys Toystore has earned an international reputation as one of the most enchanting toy stores in the world, creating a magical, theatrical atmosphere for visitors, children and adults alike. Structure Tone was put to the test when we were asked to recreate this whimsical atmosphere in Hamleys’ new Dublin store in a short 10-week schedule with a inflexible date. Structure Tone constructed the 37,000sf store from core and shell, including architectural, mechanical and electrical trade packages. In addition, Structure Tone installed all furniture and store fixtures supplied by Hamleys direct supplier and coordinated the following works carried out by Hamleys direct vendors:
- merchandising tables and displays
- café counter and kitchen equipment
- escalators
- audio-visual equipment
- graphics and signage
- fire extinguishers and security
- visual effects
Retail Store Layout
The toys are laid out over three floors. On the first, second and half of the third level are roaming magicians, a teddy bear park, a “fun2learn” area for children that hosts treasure hunts and trails that meander through the toy departments. The remaining portion of the third floor features a café with kitchen and servery for hungry guests, as well as staff facilities and offices. The café extends out onto the roof terrace providing a respite from a busy day of shopping.
