3D Modeling Supports
Construction Management
The Marriott Solana Hotel selected our firm to provide construction management services for the 66,280sf expansion and renovation project. Work included providing additional guest rooms and sophisticated amenities, additional ballrooms and boardrooms and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Our firm worked closely with the architect on the design and layout of the infrastructure and critical systems. The lower level floors needed to accommodate large clear spans required for the grand and junior ballrooms, while supporting the structure rising above it. Through the use of 3D modeling, the team developed a solution that met the needs of the hotel.
Innovative Solutions
and Problem Solving
As construction commenced, our team encountered its first challenge—loose rock while drilling piers for the new foundation. Our firm selected vacuuming the loose rock out utilizing a hydro excavation truck as a quick and effective solution to this challenge.
Expanding an operational hotel and renovating occupied areas can create a guest relations nightmare if work is not planned and executed efficiently. Our staff initiated communications with hotel staff to discuss construction scheduling. As part of the renovation scope-of-work, we added a new elevator and modernized two existing elevators. Only one elevator was shut down at a time so that guests could still travel through the hotel unimpeded. The team also scheduled tie-ins and testing of new equipment, MEP systems and life safety systems with hotel operations staff to minimize downtime of key functions. In the end, we managed the construction without impacting guests or hotel operations
