Verifies MEP Layout
As the preconstruction phase of our client’s 370,000sf data center progressed, Structure Tone worked with the architect and engineer to review the critical infrastructure and MEP systems. Utilizing a 3D model the team performed a thorough clash detection charette with the architect and engineer. We were able to quickly identify deficiencies and clashes, prior to work being put in place in the field.
After the team identified conflicts in the various MEP system layouts, each clash was cataloged and the responsible parties were notified to modify the design and layout accordingly. As the clashes were resolved, the team would evaluate and confirm the new design to ensure it was in line with the design intent.
Preconstruction Planning
Managing the construction of the base building and infrastructure, Structure Tone spent six-months in preconstruction planning the activities. We were able to identify over $6.3M in value engineering recommendations that were accepted by the owner. We identified and phased design so critical path packages could be released early in order to maintain the schedule. In addition, we were able to identify a plan to phase the technical packages to facilitate an organized construction process.
We worked closely with the project architect to coordinate documentation and submittals to USGBC in order to achieve LEED Silver certification. In addition, we prepared IAQ plans, not only to reduce VOC emissions, but, more specifically, to protect duct work and provide proper filtration at start-up.
