Live From New York
Sirius Radio and New York University teamed up to build a state-of-the-art broadcasting studio in the lobby of the NYU Langone Medical Center. They selected Structure Tone to provide construction management services. The new home of Doctor Radio, channel 114, brings listeners right into the middle of the medical world. Located in the lobby of the Medical Center, the client required that this broadcasting center be visible to all visitors to the hospital. With patients, doctors and visitors traveling through the lobby 24 hours a day, our staff created a safety plan for everyone’s protection. In addition to safety, the plan also required accommodations for minimizing dust and noise. HEPA filters (running all day) and dust barriers kept dust and noise from other hospital areas.
Electrical Upgrades
To support this new, high-tech studio, our staff provided electrical upgrades to the Hospital’s lobby area. Power supply and a new HVAC system for the 2,500sf control room and broadcast studio were installed without disrupting daily hospital operations. Our staff coordinated with Medical Center representatives to coordinate shutdowns for tie-ins and to work during lulls in daytime hours so as not to disturb daily hospital operations. Working so closely with the Medical Center staff assisted in completing the project on time and on budget.
