Chester County Hospital Opens First Telemetry Unit, Construction Continues on Two More
Sixteen-months after the project began, one of three telemetry units within The Chester County Hospital’s new 93,000sf, four-story Tower has opened. Twenty-four private rooms are now occupied by patients. In total the facility will include 72 private rooms all equipped with monitoring capabilities and designed to meet medical, surgical, intermediate and intensive care requirements. Construction continues on the rest of the facility.
Construction of the Student Commons at Manhattan College Underway
Construction of Manhattan College’s Raymond W. Kelly ’63 Student Commons is progressing on schedule. Construction of the first floor is underway now that the foundation work is complete. Throughout February and March, piles were driven into the soil to provide support for the structure. Pavarini, the construction manager, has been working on the Manhattan College campus for over 10 years, and is very familiar with the unique elements of the site including challenging logistics and rock which was encountered along the west side of the building.
Livingston Campus of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is Powered by the Sun
With land at a premium in the State of New Jersey and a commitment to be more sustainable, Rutgers took an alternative approach to construction. Structure Tone managed the construction, taking an existing parking lot and expanding it to accommodate an additional 1,190 parking spaces, while constructing a solar panel canopy above. The new lot provides 2,935 desperately needed parking spaces for the students, faculty and visitors while also providing 63% of the power needed to run the Livingston Campus in Piscataway, NJ.
French Cuisine is Reimagined at Bocuse, The Culinary Institute of America’s Newest Restaurant
The exciting new student-staffed Bocuse Restaurant, fit-out by Pavarini, a member of the Structure Tone organization, provides a dining experience that is inspired by Paul Bocuse. Paul Bocuse built a reputation on delivering traditional French cuisine in a healthier way, while exploring more creative use of ingredients. The menu includes creative new interpretations of classics selected from the bistros of the French countryside as well as the sophisticated restaurants of Paris.
Structure Tone’s Mission Critical Environment and Disaster Recovery Plans Put to the Test
As Superstorm Sandy approached the eastern seaboard, no one was expecting its effects to be so powerful. For six days Structure Tone’s New York headquarters was without power, as were all the buildings below 23rd Street in Manhattan. Within an hour of the initial power outage, our disaster recovery plans were in full effect and our business operations were transferred to our servers in Dallas. Six years ago Structure Tone redesigned its IT infrastructure and implemented disaster recovery protocols to prepare for an event like Sandy.
Barnes Foundation Receives AIA Honor Award for Architecture
The Barnes Foundation moved from the suburbs to a 93,000sf, LEED Platinum certified building on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in downtown Philadelphia. Conceived as “a gallery in a garden and a garden in a gallery,” the new building honors the original Merion, PA facility and provides visitors with a personal and contemplative experience. The new building was selected as an AIA Honor Awards for Architecture recipient for the delicate balance between the growing needs of the Foundation and the judge’s ruling to replicate the original galleries. The team respected the relationship of the architectural detailing to the ensemble compositions and achieved a simple, yet brilliant result.
L.F. Driscoll Assists in a Baby Peregrine Falcon Exam at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
L.F. Driscoll was onsite at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) doing on-going renovation work when a pair of rare peregrine falcons building a nest was spotted. We donated a high-reach crane lift to allow the Pennsylvania Game Commission access to the nest. The team safely collected the baby falcon for an exam. The team powdered under her wings to treat for fleas and flea-like bugs, banded her leg, and successfully returned her back to the nest.
The Roberts Proton Therapy Center
The Roberts Proton Therapy Center is the largest proton therapy treatment facility in the world at approximately 75,000sf with a state-of-the-art linear accelerator servicing five separate treatment gantries simultaneously. The Center treats approximately 3,000 patients a year using the most advanced options available for patient positioning and comfort. L.F. Driscoll is proud to have been the construction manager for this groundbreaking project and to support Penn Medicine.
Tour the New GlaxoSmithKline Headquarters at the Navy Yard
L.F. Driscoll, a Structure Tone organization company, completed construction of GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) LEED Platinum headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. GSK, one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, will house 1,300 of its employees in the new state-of-the-art facility. Five Crescent Drive is the first double LEED Platinum building in Philadelphia, awarded both core and shell and commercial interiors. The headquarters is a glass-encased structure with an open floor plan and grand central stair. High-efficiency and low-flow plumbing fixtures will help reduce water usage by 50 percent.

CBS This Morning New Studios Complete
The construction of CBS This Morning’s new studio, managed by Structure Tone is now complete. The state-of-the-art broadcast studio is on-air and transmitting live feed. While the CBS This Morning studio was on the air for the first few months, Structure Tone started working next door on the new CBS newsroom. Out of the camera’s eye, the team constructed new office support space and talent offices on the second floor and mezzanine level.
First New Hotel in Newark, NJ Since 1971 Opens
The Courtyard Newark Downtown, built by Structure Tone, is the first new hotel in the downtown area since 1971. The 150-room hotel abuts the Prudential Center, home to the NJ Devils, and a historic pre-World War I office building, which created challenging logistics and a delicate construction process.
Restoration of St. Patrick's Cathedral

During the 22-month project Structure Tone is restoring the fašade, replacing stone and wood on the exterior of the church, re-glazing the stained glass storm windows, cleaning over 1,000 additional stain glass windows, repainting portions of the ceiling, replacing the alters and fixing the roof.
Bronze Doors at St. Patrick's Cathedral Removed for Restoration
Over two nights workers removed the bronze doors of St. Patrick's Cathedral, each weighing almost 9,000lbs, for restoration and cleaning. This is one step in the five-year, multi-phased full interior and exterior renovation being managed by Structure Tone.

The Barnes Foundation Moves Its Art Collection to a New Building in Philadelphia
Dr. Albert Barnes, an influential scientist and life-long learner, amassed the largest private collection of post-impressionist and modernist artworks in the world and wanted to share it with the public. After years of debate the Foundation moved the collection from Merion to Philadelphia, however the Merion galleries were replicated in size, scale and placement of art. L.F. Driscoll constructed the 93,000sf, LEED Platinum building, a limestone structure made up of two long sections, with one of them forming an L wrapping the other. In between the buildings is a light court.

Structure Tone brought to life the vision of celebrated architect Frank Gehry and his patron, Signature Theatre Company, building the new LEED Gold certified Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street. The theatre is located on the lower and mezzanine levels of a new multi-story, mixed-use hotel and residences, which was built simultaneously.

Construction of the Temple University’s new 703,000sf Morgan Hall, managed by L.F. Driscoll, celebrated the topping out of the new residential complex, which has transformed the Philadelphia skyline along North Broad Street. The 27-story and the 10-story, structural steel and slab on deck dormitories provide 1,250 additional beds and will provide additional shopping and eating amenities for students.
Construction of The Wistar Institute’s New Biomedical Research Tower Underway
The construction of the The Wistar Institute’s new $750 million, seven-story research tower and vivarium is underway. Managed by L.F. Driscoll, the complex project will be built in multiple phases to allow The Wistar Institute to remain in operation through construction.

Wagner College Re-Dedicates Main Hall after the Comprehensive External Restoration
Over 17-months Structure Tone restored the 82-year-old Main Hall building, the center piece of Wagner College. Structure Tone provided construction management services for the exterior and interior renovation of the Main Hall including installing a new dome, a feature bay window and new windows in all classrooms; reinforcing the roof of the building; renovating the theatre; and installing all new HVAC systems.

University of Hawaii Cancer Center Virtual Tour
L.F. Driscoll in partnership with Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc., are constructing a new state-of-the-art LEED Gold cancer research center for the University of Hawaii. The 165,000sf two-building facility will be one of 65 premier research organizations in the country designated by the National Cancer Institute. Building A will include four floors of wet labs and Building B will include six floors of dry lab, one seminar room, test kitchen, and fitness center.

The Cathedral of Hope Interfaith Peace Chapel, constructed by Structure Tone Southwest, has its genesis in the spirit of love, hope and diversity.
