#30 Years 30 Projects
This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary in London, and we couldn’t be more proud of all that we have accomplished, thanks to our employees, clients and partners.
“To celebrate 30 years of delivering iconic projects in London, we’re sharing 30 of our projects from the last 30 years.”
From fitting out some of the most impressive workplaces in the world, to refurbishing London’s historic buildings, to building the mission critical facilities that allow for our amazing modern technologies, we have put our client-first, can-do attitude to work to realize our clients’ vision.
To celebrate 30 years of delivering iconic projects in London, we’re sharing 30 of our projects from the last 30 years. Whether a “classic” from our portfolio or a new example of today’s workplace trends, we are thrilled to share and celebrate these with you.
Reposition, refurbish, revive. As part of their mission to revitalise properties across Central London, Grafton Advisors, as property adviser to the largest Central London fund, WELPUT, enlisted the help of Structure Tone to upgrade and reposition Twenty St. James’s Street.
Learning about our clients’ goals is key to our successful delivery. With its student population booming, University College London (UCL) employed Structure Tone to create over 500 new specialist teaching spaces before their new term deadline.
It’s all about community spirit. The HKX project was voted London’s best commercial fit out at the BCO Awards. Completed in only 26weeks, Havas’ 10 storey home is a masterclass in agile working, and a ‘Vertical Village’ phenomenon.
The project to create Thomson Reuters’ The Dock, was the most challenging new build construction project Structure Tone UK has ever undertaken. This highly complex critical engineering project comprised the construction of a new five storey 62,000 sqft External Utilities Building, known colloquially as ‘The Dock’ to expand and enhance the engineering resilience to the client’s existing data centre.
The votes are in! Our Sea Container’s House project for Ogilvy was voted most innovative project in the UK at the British Council of Office (BCO) awards, the UK’s premier standard of excellence.
Central London’s largest data centre project at the time, comprised the complete redevelopment of an existing 90,000sf facility on an island site for a colocation company. This Uptime Tier III project included two internal subterranean 33kV UKPN switch rooms and transformer rooms on the new 33kV London network.
Dean Manning, Structure Tone International’s managing director, called this “A Career Defining Project!”. And with heavy refurbishment works ranging from the complex services engineering to the incredible structural feats to create the new reception, through the extensive fit-out that included cutting a new atrium through the centre of the building and installing a pure glass box façade, one of only three in the world, its easy to see why.
We are always breaking new ground. We delivered a 100,000 sqft data centre expansion for this US investment banking client in their live facility. Within the scope we were also the first main contractor to install a BladeRoom data centre into this facility for the client to trial pending global deployment.
Taking the ‘LEED’ in sustainable construction. We worked with Bloomberg to deliver the 1st LEED Platinum certified commercial office project in the UK.
To celebrate our 20th anniversary we completed the first of many projects with a valued client – the fit out of the exceptional Willis Tower.
Putting the client first means going the extra mile. We delivered our first Tier 4 data centre for Barclays Capital.
We broker global expertise with local knowledge. ICAP selected Structure Tone to fit out there new HQ at 1 Broadgate with 650 dealer positions, then our largest dealer floor to date.
Back then we specialised in financial services firms, but when TMT giant Ericsson was looking for interior specialists to develop their new European HQ, we had their back!
Our ‘Client First’ philosophy means we’re committed to solving our clients’ challenges. We delivered a fast-track data centre refurbishment for Global Center/Exodus Communications, our largest data centre client in the year 2000.
We love working in London’s most iconic buildings. This year we completed our biggest project to date. The 550,000sqft refurbishment of Shell Mex House for Witkoff. (2/2)

London calling! Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, one of Germany’s largest banks, called on us to renovate the 12-storey Riverbank House when they moved into the city. With all that space they included a giant trading floor, restaurant and kitchen.
We understand change can be challenging. When Chase Manhattan Bank merged with Chemical Bank of New York, they asked Structure Tone to help support their London office move to Vintners Place and complete our first UK data centre.
We’ll go to any lengths to serve our clients. So when State Street Bank said they wanted our help to create a base in Luxembourg, we were only too happy to deliver our first European project.
We helped the over 200-year-old legal powerhouse upgrade to the newly built No. 1 Fleet Place, where they still reside today as Denton Wilde Sapte.
Our first full fit-out of a London HQ was for for Merrill Lynch at Farringdon Road, forging a successful relationship.
Who would have guessed our own office would be in the building of our 2nd ever project? Our Continental Insurance project was in the building we now call home.
This is where it all began – Structure Tone London’s first UK project was the fit-out of 1 Canada Square!
