Our firm provided construction services for CareOne’s Long-Term Acute-Care (LTAC) Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley. This project consisted of alterations and renovations to 12,000sf of existing occupied space on the fourth floor.
The new space includes 20 patient rooms with 25 beds, a nurses’ station and medical and support rooms. Early in the project our team constructed a mock-up for single- and double-bed patient rooms to establish rough-in locations for beds, bed docks, switching, receptacles, medical gas, TV locations and nurse call system devices.
Working in an occupied hospital requires close coordination with the hospital and it’s staff. Activities such as deliveries, daily undertakings, man-power entry/exit and work on building systems that were active were all closely coordinated in order to not disrupt on-going hospital activities. The client also requested that final inspections be performed four weeks earlier, making a 16-week project into a 12-week project. In order to meet the client’s new expectation our team worked extra days and hours and coordinated activities closely.

It was a pleasure working with the most professional and organized GC I have ever worked with. From communication of the project’s status thru schedule, budget, and everyday issues was extraordinary. During the project, we at CareOne wanted to move up the schedule end date by 5 weeks. Structure Tone came thru with speed and high quality finish to get us to our goals.”—Joshua Slepian, Project Manager, CareOne.
