University of Florida IFAS Aquatic Food Products & Pilot Plant
Originally constructed in the 1930s, Building #120 has undergone multiple additions and renovations. The structure is composed of concrete columns and beams, bearing brick and terra-cotta block walls, and areas of steel construction.
The project included the selective demolition of the existing building, a small two-story 2,000sf addition on the south end, and refinishing the interior. The mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems were replaced to meet current demands and code requirements. The project also included asbestos abatement, new electrical and data systems, new plumbing, new HVAC systems, and a passenger elevator.
The building now houses the IFAS computer network system and the new aquatic labs. The space consists of an experimental seafood pilot plant, offices, and research laboratories.
